P1 - Planning
Hi guys, welcome to the podcast. Ok, so today’s topic is a film that came out last year, one of my personal favourites, it’s Deadpool. The director’s Tim Miller, and Ryan Reynolds did fantastic as Deadpool himself, alongside other stars like Morena Baccarin and Ed Skrein. Development for the film started in 2004 (surprisingly) and was released in UK theatres on Valentine’s Day last year. Here’s roughly how the plot goes;
Story Of Deadpool:
Wade Wilson is a normal American living with his girlfriend in the city, then suddenly he finds out he has cancer. Someone offers to cure him of this, but it all goes horribly wrong and he is now physically (and mentally) scarred for life. These scars grant him incredible healing powers, giving him the ability to recover from a flesh wound as if it were a papercut. Using his new powers from this experiment alongside other heroes, he tries to hunt down the very person who turned his life upside down and even kidnapped his girlfriend. Also, penis jokes.
End of story
I have a couple of opinions from other people too, so here, take a listen.
[Three vox pops play w/ sound bites, then sound fades out back to me]
So that’s what some people other than me thought, mostly positive opinions on the film so far. Personally, I absolutely love the film, mainly because the superhero characters (especially Deadpool) are all shown as people instead of overpowered gods at least once during the film, which makes them much more relatable than say, *goes into a deep voice* Batman. I also have another friend with me to share their views with me on the film, so yeah, here they are.
[Introduce guest, interview follows out (same questions as vox pops)]
Cool, always good to hear what others think. Did you know that the whole film was only shot in 48 days? That seems a bit short to me for the long production time, but I guess it must have been hard to find actors to play along with Reynold. Also, Reynold himself requested that the suit itself shouldn’t be green, or animated, thanks to his previous role as Green Lantern in 2011. During the filming of the movie, Ryan Reynolds even visited sick children via the Make A Wish Foundation - as Deadpool himself! He seems like such a cool guy in real life. I’d definetely recommend the film to both newcomers and old members of the Deadpool fandom, whether you know the comics or not. There are a couple changes to the comics, but because it’s turning Negasonic Teenage Warhead from a psychic to a… negasonic teenage warhead, it doesn’t affect me much as I haven’t read them. In summary, great film, 10/10, you can find it on iTunes and Amazon. That’s it for today guys, and I’ll see you all next time, bye~.
[Cue outro sound bite]
